Big Wins & Bright Spots
🇪🇺 EU Court: “Victory for Love”
The Court of Justice of the European Union ruled that member states must recognize same-sex marriages performed in other EU countries, even if they don’t allow marriage equality at home. This protects freedom of movement and family life for couples living in or moving between countries like Poland and Germany.

🇺🇸 Marriage Equality Still Stands in the U.S.
On November 10, the U.S. Supreme Court refused to take a case that tried to undercut Obergefell v. Hodges and allow broad “religious exemption” refusals by government employees. That means the landmark 2015 marriage-equality ruling remains intact.

Harder News We’re Watching
🛂 U.S. Passport Policy Rollback
The Supreme Court allowed the administration to enforce a rule that blocks many trans and nonbinary people from having accurate gender markers on passports while a case called Orr v. Trump continues. Advocacy groups warn this increases travel risks and forced “outing” at borders.

🕯️ Transgender Day of Remembrance 2025
This year’s Trans Day of Remembrance (Nov 20) honored 58 known trans people who died since last November — most from violence or suicide. The 2025 report from Advocates for Trans Equality, plus GLAAD’s TDOR resources, are sobering reminders of the work still ahead.
